I have the honor to enclose a
Certificate from the Colonial Surgeon
which explains the unfortunate necessity
I am now under
of requesting that His
Excellency will kindly grant me twelve-
months leave of absence from the date of
the 20th Instant on the usual terms, to
proceed to Europe
in order
by some means
to check, if possible, the progress of this
fatal disease, ultimate cure
being I am informed
not to be hoped for. Nevertheless
